I ordered my first camera
from the back of a girl's magazine when I was probably 10 years old with a crisp ten dollar bill tucked in a birthday card from my grandmother. It was a black plastic teensy tiny camera, and the image quality, just maybe, could be compared to a Holga. But it didn't matter. I was making choices, seeing things in a new way. I was hooked. The next camera was a giant step to a Minolta SLR (manual) ordered with babysitting money through a Sears catalog, its' page nearly falling out from being found and folded over so many times.
The excitement I felt when that camera arrived rivals the excitement I have felt every single time I develop a roll of film or see an image emerge from the white floating paper in the tray. Every portrait, every sail, walk, every wedding I shot... it was always the same. I could not wait to see the images unfold! Although digital, the excitement is still with me today!

my favorite images are almost always people. I like it when their thoughts are written in their eyes.
standing behind a Graflex mounted on a tripod with a dark cloth over my head and watching the faces metamorphosis from a facade to a mind at peace or questioning or their true self whatever it may be is magical.
